Finalists Prepare for Region’s Premier HR&D Awards
Written by Suraj jaiswal

There are 10 categories, representing a range of impressive accomplishments in HR&D.

With just a week to go, the shortlisted finalists for this year’s CIPD North East of England HR&D Awards are getting ready to celebrate.

The annual awards, delivered in partnership with The Journal, showcase and applaud the excellent HR&D practices in the region – celebrating the hard-working HR&D teams and individuals that have helped businesses through the recent challenging and testing times.

Our finalists are waiting to find out which of them will take home the win – at a glittering ceremony on Thursday, June 30 at The Fed, Gateshead.

Every year, we receive a slew of worthy nominations bearing impressive achievements – and this year is no different. All of our finalists have distinguished themselves – through innovation, inclusivity, leadership and more. Below is the full shortlist, so you can read up on who’s in the running ahead of the big day.

The co-chairs of CIPD North East, Elouise Leonard-Cross and Sarah Carnegie, said: “This year we were delighted to receive so many submissions across all categories. The judging panels for each category had some challenging decisions to get to the finalists list.

“We hugely appreciate both the generosity of our award sponsors, who were also judges for their sponsored category, along with our expert judges who are senior practitioners bringing a rich and diverse experience to the process.

“Our region has so many successful businesses, who also lead the way in great people practices – the awards shine a light on these and also importantly offer a platform to share the wonderful work that takes place.

“June 30 promises to be a fantastic event and we can’t wait to welcome guests for a unique and fun celebratory experience and an evening of pride for our region and profession.

“We know that the last two years have been incredibly difficult for many of our members and regional businesses, particularly impacting mental health. For that reason our chosen charities for the night are Newcastle United Foundation and Foundation of Light – both of which have been undertaking significant outreach and community work to support good mental health through the ‘Be a Game Changer’ and ‘Game of two halves’ programmes along with engaging young people in sport and physical activity.”
