Amber Schaefer has been selected as the new director of human resources for Lafayette, according to a release from the city.
The previous director, Kim Meyer, has retired, and Schaefer will be stepping into her role.
“Schaefer has been with the City of Lafayette since 2010 where she was hired as a communications technician with the Lafayette Police Department,” the release stated. “In 2015, she was named Civilian of the Year by LPD. In 2016, Schaefer was relocated to Human Resources as a coordinator and has remained in that department until her promotion to assistant director in 2019 and now the new director.”
Before she worked for the City of Lafayette, Schaefer was in the social work field with the Department of Child Services, as well as with St. Anthony Health Care from 2006-2010. In 2021 and 2022, she received the City of Lafayette Star City Service Award and a Star City Rising Award in 2021.
